St. Caletric of Chartres Died 573 Feast Day – October 8 and September 4 For Wood Turners Feast Days: April 16th or February 18th. Pocket - 1 1/2" x 3" Ornament - 2 1/2" x 5" Small - 3 1/2" x 6 3/4" Large - 5 1/2" x 10 1/2" He was Bishop of Chartres 557–573. Early in the 13th century, the Cathedral of Chartres was being constructed. It was customary for local craft guilds to fund the construction of the stained glass windows. The wood turners’ guild paid for the St. Caletric window. In the window, the saint is depicted above a person using a pole lathe. St. Caletric became the unofficial saint of wood turners and is still regarded as such. This window is the earliest depiction of the pole lathe developed in the Middle Ages.
